#BatSeries – Game 3 Update

With pitchers hitting in the National League park, our first broken bats of the #BatSeries, and the Mets waking up at the plate, tonight saw the most traditional bat brand in the game stepping up and coming back to make the other brands nearly invisible.

After two nights of minimal productivity, Louisville Slugger brought it tonight, accounting for nearly 3/4 of all RBI. With 11 TOTAL game RBI, Louisville Slugger was responsible for eight.

Louisville Slugger: 8 RBI

Game 3 Broken Bats

We at were wondering when this was going to happen! And tonight it did. The inevitable broken bat greeted us not just once, or even twice — but THREE times in one game! Two of them were Louisville Slugger bats, and one was Marucci. We hate to see beautiful bats break. But you know, 100 MPH sliders tend to do that.

Here’s how they broke down:

Louisville Slugger

Murphy’s 1st inning broken bat out

Orlando’s 6th inning broken bat out

Marucci

Perez’s 2nd inning broken bat foul ball, & his broken bat single that followed in the same at-bat.

Winner of the Night: Dove Tail Bats

"Dove

Dove Tail Bats (DTB) stole the show by providing the most epic and important moments of an overall 5-hour game.

Hosmer’s Game-Winning RBI: Dove Tail also provided the stick that Hosmer used to pull through after five hours and 14 innings of nail-biting baseball. His DTB-triggered deep fly to right field was easily far enough to score the speedy Escobar.

Speaking of Escobar …

Runner Up: Old Hickory

"oldOld Hickory Bats (“Old Hick”) started the game with a huge energy boost by the way of a rare but exiting inside-the-park home run from Alcides Escobar. The ball was crushed to the warning track in left-center field, and the speedy Escobar sprinted around the bases in less than 15 seconds.

"2015IMPORTANT NOTE: Players often switch bats out-of-the-blue, and last minute, for myriad reasons (the pitcher they’re facing, the game situation, a slump, a hot streak, a superstition, a practical joke … who knows!) But rest assured that BaseballBats.net has extensively researched each player’s tendencies, found visual proof of the recent bat usage, and even spoken directly with representatives from each Bat Brand. This allowed us to compile an advanced list of which bats we expect each player to use. However, our staff will also be viewing the game in real-time in an attempt to catch any alterations in our expectations.
