Louisville Slugger Overview
When Louisville Eclipse’s (now the Louisville Colonels) own Pete Browning broke his bat during a game, onlooker “Bud” Hillerich decided to make him a new one out of his father’s shop. With advice from Browning, Hillerich created the first baseball bat of what was going to be a long career in 1884.
Browning spread the word and baseball players flocked to Hillerich’s shop. When Hillerich took over the shop from his father in 1894, he renamed it Louisville Slugger. To this day, Louisville Slugger baseball bats continue to enjoy the exalted status as one of the most iconic brands in the game.
Louisville Slugger uses their patented Tru3 Technology, which is the first ever three-piece bat technology that drastically reduces vibrations on ball contact while also giving a boost to swinging power. Also, more recently, is the iST Technology, which takes a more solid approach to batting. The barrel and handle are joined together tightly to increase the power of the batter’s swing and provide a “larger sweet spot.”
Louisville Slugger bats have been used by historic legends like Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Today, more professional baseball players use Louisville Slugger bats than any other brand.
